As if you needed an excuse to drink, celebrating your constitutional right to do so is a perfect justification. If it’s as cold where you are as it is here, give some of the winter seasonal brews around you a try. I’ve got a few stacked up for today, including Goose Island’s 2009 Christmas Ale and the Avery Old Jubilation Ale.
Prohibition was repealed 76 years ago on December 5th, giving rise to jobs within the brewing industry, making organized crime revolving around alcohol obsolete, and provisioning for the well-being of everyone choosing to enjoy one of life’s great pleasures (that would be beer, friends).
In the words of FDR: “What America needs now is a drink.”
“Always remember that I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me.”
-Winston Churchill
“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
-Benjamin Franklin
“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.”
-Abraham Lincoln
“He was a wise man who invented beer.”
-Plato
“I would kill everyone in this room for a drop of sweet beer.”
-Homer Simpson
“I feel sorry for people who don’t drink. When they wake up in the morning, that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day.”
-Frank Sinatra
“You can’t be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline – it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.”
-Frank Zappa
“[I recommend]… bread, meat, vegetables and beer.”
-Sophocles’ philosophy of a moderate diet
Cheers.

Love the quotes and the blog looks great. Keep it up!
Dang you should have sent this out on the 4th reminding people to celebrate it. I didn’t get a notice until this morning. I’ll still celebrate though.
Incredible! Love the quotes!
