Boulevard Collaboration No. 1 – Imperial Pilsner (preview)

imperialpilsnerAs mentioned before on BeerGenius, Boulevard just did a collaboration with Jean-Marie Rock of Orval. This is the first collaboration (that I’m aware of) with Boulevard, and a rare occurrence for a Belgian brewer of this caliber. Jean-Marie Rock wanted to brew an Imperial Pilsner, so that’s what was done. Hey, I wouldn’t argue with the man.

By all accounts, the beer will be highly carbonated, quite bitter with a nice malty base, and pretty darn alcoholic. As extreme as it sounds, I can imagine it’ll be balanced and awesomely pleasant. Really anxious to give this a try.

The label artwork for the beer is to the right – just came across from my friends at Boulevard.

Expect this beer to hit shelves second week of January in the Kansas City area. I’m not certain it will make it much further than Kansas City, but you may see a bottle or two end up in Colorado.

Steven Pauwels, the other half of this collaboration and Brewmaster at Boulevard, indicated that this would be the only run of this particular beer, but hopefully the first (and not the last) in the Boulevard collaboration series.

Kudos to Jean-Marie Rock for hanging out in Kansas City and brewing beer for us. Life is good.
