Okay, okay. I’m sorry. Really. Been far too long, although delicious beers are consumed daily. So I was on the phone with my dad earlier today, and he gave me plenty of crap for not having posted for two months. So, to kick the new year off correctly, thought I’d review a beer that doesn’t quite get enough attention – Franziskaner Weissbier.
Franziskaner is best consumed at any time of the year, and it pairs well with a myriad of dishes. Really hard to go wrong with this one.
My dad also reviewed a version of the style on his Posterous blog – you can see that review here: http://andyhuckaba.posterous.com/samuel-adams-white-ale
Let’s check it out:
The Breakdown:
- Originality within style (18): Sets the benchmark, but not overly interesting beyond that.
- Nose (18): Pure Banana and Clove on the nose, hint of citrus.
- Mouthfeel (18): Full-bodied, somewhat creamy mouthfeel – perfect carbonation for the style.
- Character (16): Just busy enough to keep one interested – multi-faceted, but subtle.
- Overall Quality (18): Consistent and great everytime I’ve had it – draft or bottle.
- Total (88): Widely available and always pleasing.
Beer: Franziskaner Hefeweizen
ABV: 5%
Brewer: Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu – Munich, Germany
Availability: Pretty sure you can find it.

Would love to see you post again! When can we expect something?
Hello BeerGenius,
Thank you for that review. I never knew that Franziskaner is good. I’ve seen it several times but never thought of buying it. Maybe blame it on the cover I suppose. Haha it doesn’t match the pic and the product. I’ll try this one any time this week.
P.S. do another review for us!
We enjoy reading about all the beers and beer stories this blog reports on. We are in the planning stages for a new brewery in Northeastern USA called Charter Oak Brewing Company LLC and our business plan is to grow to over 25,000BBL within 5 years.
The breweries and stories you report on, allow for much encouragement.
